Smoke from the fire at the Rolling Hills Construction and Demolition Landfill has caused the Florida Department of Health to issue an air quality health advisory. Nearby residents are advised to protect against smoke exposure. Effects include coughing, difficulty breathing, scratchy throat, irritated eyes, shortness of breath, and rapid heartbeat. County work crews used three firefighting brush trucks along with bulldozers and dump trucks to smother the fire with dirt. Crews will be on scene daily until sunset until the fire is extinguished. The owners of the properties have agreed to pay for the use of county resources to deal with the fire.
