Mary Rice’s attorney has dropped the motion to block the media from covering her trial if the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Department doesn’t speak on the case any further. Rice’s attorney – Kenneth Brooks Jr. – said Santa Rosa Sheriff Bob Johnson was releasing evidence and opinions that could compromise a fair trial. WEAR-TV and the Pensacola News Journal filed a motion against the media being restricted from judicial proceedings. The parties agreed that Sheriff Johnson wouldn’t say anything further to media about the case and the motion by Rice’s attorney was dropped.
