SHOOTING RULED JUSTIFIABLE 2-23-17

State Attorney Bill Eddins has announced an officer-involved shooting in Pensacola last month was justified. On January 19th the U.S. Marshals Task Force attempted to arrest 61-year-old Kevin Petuchov on a warrant for Capital Sexual Battery Upon A Child. When Task Force members entered his residence in the 700 block of Boxwood Drive around 9 a.m., Petuchov pulled a handgun and pointed it at the officers. Okaloosa County Deputy Rodney Owens fired six rounds and Petuchov was struck in the side and dropped the gun. He survived the shooting and Eddins’ report concluded that the deputy believed he was in danger and the shooting was justifiable.
