A group of teachers in Santa Rosa County have formed a new union and want to take bargaining rights away from the current union, the Santa Rosa Professional Educators. Over the last year the Santa Rosa Education Association has collected signatures from 30 percent of the teachers in the district. Those signatures were delivered to the Public Employees Relations Commission in Tallahassee on Thursday, and if the signatures are verified, they can call an election. The new union is hoping an election will take place by the end of the school year.
