A suspect was shot and killed by an Escambia County Sheriff’s Deputy Saturday night in Gonzalez. Deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 2500 block of Southern Oaks Drive off West Roberts Road

at 6:45 p.m. The suspect fled on foot to the 900 block of Deniro Court, pulled a firearm and shot at deputies, who then returned fire, killing the suspect. The deputies involved in the incident were not injured.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is handling the investigation. The deputies involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave.
