DELAYED MURDER ARREST 4-6-17

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest for a murder that occurred 10 years ago. Demarcus Ledent has been charged with first degree murder for the death of Barry Shipp. It happened  inside a barbershop on north “L” Street in 2007. Ledent was originally charged with the crime back in 2012, but charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. Investigators say they received a tip from an agent with the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The evidence was presented to a grand jury and Ledent was indicted on January 5th.  Ledent was already in a Spokane, Washington Jail serving time for another crime. He is currently being held in the Escambia County Jail without bond.
