The Milton City Council has given up plans to seek a southern route for Highway 90 after community members protested. Yesterday the council voted 4-3 to remove a request that the Florida Department of Transportation study a southern alternate route as an option for the future of Highway 90. FDOT said a more southern route would add millions of dollars to the cost of the project including an estimated 63 million dollars for a new, 4-lane bridge over the Blackwater River.
