A federal bill has been filed to create a national reciprocity for concealed carry permits. Currently, concealed carry permits are honored on a state-by-state basis. House Bill 38, would require states that allow people to carry concealed firearms to recognize out-of-state permits. However, opponents of the bill say not all states have the same permitting standards and that police often do not have a way to verify out-of-state permits. The bill has 188 members of congress listed as co-sponsors including Congressman Matt Gaetz.
