The Town Council for the city of Century in North Escambia County  has approved a 55% increase for water and wastewater that will cost the average family about two hundred dollars more per year per year. The Florida Rural Water Association said Century’s water and wastewater department had a net loss of $142,000 last year and to apply for future grants or loans, the department must be financially viable. The town recently increased garbage collection fees by 36 percent and is also considering a natural gas rate increase.
