Civil rights leaders in Pensacola are unhappy with Florida Governor Scott’s appointment to the Escambia County School Board. The Governor appointed Lee Hansen, a white woman, to fill the District 3 seat vacated by the resignation of Board member Linda Moultrie. . The seat that has been held by a minority for the past 40 years and the appointment gives the County an all-white school board. Civil rights leaders are asking the governor to reappoint the seat. Hansen will serve the remainder of Moultrie’s term, which runs through November 2018 and then an election will be held.
