A man convicted of killing a Santa Rosa County couple in 2014 is now awaiting trial in Bay County for another murder. 45-year-old Derrick Tompson convicted of fatally shooting Milton residents 60-year-old Steven Zackowski, and Debra Zackowski, in July 2014 so he could steal pain pills from them. The body of former Bay County Sheriff’s Office narcotics officer and nightclub owner 66-year-old Allen Johnson, was found in his Lynn Haven home. Tompson told authorities he shot Johnson twice in the head, stole his money and bought pills. The State Attorney’s Office says they plan to ask for the death penalty.
