NOROVIRUS AT HURLBURT

The norovirus continues to cause problems at the headquarters of the Air Force 1st Special Operations Wing. The virus causes stomach or intestinal inflammation and can produce nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention describes norovirus as an extremely contagious virus that can be contracted through contact with an infected person, or with contaminated food or water, or by touching contaminated surfaces. As of Friday, there were 43 known cases of norovirus at Hurlburt Field, according to a Facebook post from Col. Thomas Palenske, the installation commander. the Florida Department of Health there are no indications the virus has spread beyond Hurlburt Field.
