SENATOR LATVALA RESIGNS

Florida State Senator Jack Latvala – accused of sexual misconduct – has resigned. Latvala’s resignation came after increasing pressure for the veteran lawmaker to step down after the release of a report by a special master that found probable cause to support allegations he had repeatedly groped a Senate aide and engaged in a pattern of making unwelcome remarks about women’s bodies and promised legislative favors for sex. The 66-year-old Latvala sent a letter to Senate President Joe Negron announcing he would quit the Senate on January 5th. Latvala continued to blame political foes for his downfall and asserted his innocence in the resignation letter.
