Lawyers for Florida asked the U.S. Supreme Court on yesterday to reject a special master’s report denying the state relief in its dispute with Georgia over water flow into the Apalachicola River. However, a lawyer representing Georgia asked the court to uphold the report, which favors Georgia. The case is the result of a lawsuit filed in 2013 by Florida seeking a more favorable distribution of water between the states from the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint river system. Florida says growing water consumption in Georgia, is strangling the Apalachicola region.
