A Pensacola man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for causing a fatal collision. In January 2017, Michael Daniel refused to pull over for a traffic stop in Escambia County at the intersection of P and Brainerd streets. The Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy did not pursue Daniel who ran a stop sign at P and Blount streets and collided with a van carrying a family of four. The driver of the van, 78-year-old Alma Hardy, died two days after the collision. Daniel fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. Data recovered from his vehicle revealed he was driving 68 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone at the time of the collision.
