MISSING VIETNAM PILOT

An Air Force pilot whose fighter went down over South Vietnam in 1972 and whose body was never recovered, is the latest candidate for inclusion on the Okaloosa County Veterans Memorial. Crestview Mayor David Cadle, a board member, said efforts are being made to find relatives of the pilot – Jack R. Harvey. A graduate of Choctawhatchee High School, Harvey’s name is inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Air Force said on November 28, 1972, 24-year-old 1st Lt. Jack R. Harvey’s F-4D Phantom went down near Da Nang, in bad weather. Initially listed as missing in action Harvey’s status was changed to deceased in January 1980.
