A 64-year-old Gulf Breeze man will be honored for saving a woman from her burning home last year. David Hammond saved 47-year-old Stephanie Wright on July 28th, 2016. Hammond, who was her landlord crawled into the burning structure dragged her to a doorway and then collapsed. Police officer and firefighter pulled both to safety. The Carnegie Medal is given throughout the United States and Canada to those who risk their lives to an extraordinary degree while saving or attempting to save the lives of others. Congressman Matt Gaetz will present Hammond with the medal at the Santa Rosa County Commission meeting at 9 a.m. tomorrow in Milton.
