The State Attorney’s Office an Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy was justified in shooting an armed suspect in November. Four deputies went to a home on Holly Street after receiving an anonymous tip that Brittany Knapp – a fugitive with outstanding warrants – was at that location. Russell Enfinger and Kristen Allen were on the property and Enfinger pulled a gun and opened fire. Deputies Eric Alvarez and Larry Richardson returned fire and Enfinger was shot once, but survived. He was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder. The State Attorney’s Office has ruled the deputies were justified in the shooting.
