NEW ECSD PATROL UNIT

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office will create a High Intensity Patrol to deal with the increase in violent crime in Myrtle Grove. Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chip Simmons says residents have called for an increased presence after a series of shootings thought to be drug related. Two fatalities have resulted from those shootings. Simmons said the 8-person unit will be flexible enough to move to areas beyond Myrtle Grove that see an increase in crimes such as burglaries, vehicle thefts or gun crimes, but won’t require additional budgeting.
