The City of Vernon in Washington County is investigating former City Clerk Michelle Cook’s involvement in payroll discrepancies and unauthorized use of City credit cards. The pay stubs of former City Clerk Michelle Cook showed discrepancies in how her hourly pay rate was calculated from October, 2014 to December, 2017. Cook’s attorney, Lisa Anderson of Lisa Anderson Law in Panama City, said allegations against Cook are false. The investigation came after Cook filed for unemployment benefits after resigning from the City in December.
