The Pensacola News Journal is reporting the budget agreement between the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Escambia County Commissioners appears to have fallen apart. The County and the Sheriff’s Office had reached an agreement for a four-year, 9.1 million-dollar deal that would implement a pay plan for deputies. However, the Sheriff’s Office wants any increases to the cost of benefits to be covered to not be part of scheduled payments. They also want to add a clause that would require deputies to receive any increase in benefits that county employees receive. In a Facebook post the Sheriff’s Office said there seems to be some conflict about the agreement so they will apparently continue with their budget appeal to the Governor.
