The Escambia County School Board has formally approved funding for school resource officers and armed private security in all public schools in the county. Off-duty Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies and Pensacola Police officers and the private security company Securitas will provide the armed security. Costs are estimated at around $300,000. Implementation of the plan started on Monday.
