COP KILLER DENIED PAROLE

A man who killed a Pensacola Police officer more than 35 years ago has been denied parole by the Florida Commission on Offender Review. 53-year-old Cliff Jackson, and his co-defendant, Clarence Hill, held up the Freedom Savings and Loan in downtown Pensacola on October 19th, 1982, and shot police officers Stephen Taylor and Larry Bailey. Taylor, died but Bailey recovered after being shot in the neck. Jackson pleaded to murder, attempted murder and armed robbery and was sentenced to life in prison, which under the Florida law at the time meant he was eligible for parole after 25 years. Hill was executed in 2006. Jackson will be eligible for another parole hearing in seven years.
