The National Park Services has selected the company that will operate the ferry service that will run between downtown Pensacola, Fort Pickens and Pensacola Beach. North Carolina-based Gulf Coast Maritime Services will be responsible for providing at least three loops each day for passenger ferry service, operating two ferry boats owned by the National Park Service. The double-decker catamaran ferry boats, named “Turtle Runner” and “Pelican Perch,” can each seat 150 passengers, but do not carry vehicles. The ferry service is expected to begin operations on May 18th.
