The murder trial for an inmate from Century Correctional Institution, charged with stabbing another inmate, has been delayed after the defendant – 27-year-old Robert Hunt – claimed he had ineffective counsel. Hunt is charged with the stabbing death of inmate 33-year-old Jorge Slaughter, last June. The state alleges Hunt stabbed Slaughter over a debt the victim owed. Hunt requested a hearing to determine whether the defense counsel has been ineffective. Circuit Judge Jan Shackelford scheduled that hearing for May 8th.
