FATAL COCAINE OVERDOSE

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says a man died after swallowing cocaine during a traffic stop Monday night. The as yet unidentified man was stopped for a traffic violation and the deputy saw him place something in his mouth. He was arrested and taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail for driving with a suspended driver’s license and having a controlled substance in the vehicle and admitted swallowing seven grams of cocaine. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His name will be released when his relatives have been notified.
