DANGEROUS SUPPLEMENT

A popular supplement has come under fire by the Federal Drug Administration. The leaves of the Kratom tree are sold as an over-the-counter supplement in the form of a powder, pill or tea. It can act like a stimulant or a sedative, depending on the dose. However, the FDA says kratom is an opioid and it can be dangerous, even fatal and has been associated with more than 3 dozen deaths. While not illegal Consumer Reports says it’s better for consumers to avoid Kratom altogether.
