MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an 18-year-old on charges of murder, sexual battery and robbery. Antjuan Sanders is accused of raping and strangling 58-year-old Susan Midyett, inside her home in the 5000 block of Statler Avenue near Perdido Key in February of 2017. Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said Sanders also targeted four other women’s homes for burglaries. Sanders was identified as a suspect through DNA evidence recovered at the scene, and he was already in custody for one of the related burglaries. Sanders was 17 at the time of the offenses, but State Attorney Bill Eddins said the state intends to try him as an adult.
