The historic Gulfview Hotel – moved several weeks ago to the heart of downtown Fort Walton Beach – is awaiting a new foundation to complete the job. Ducky Johnson House Movers of Marianna moved the 112-year-old building to the city-owned lot at 115 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, on April 18th. City Manager Michael Beedie said it would take a few more days for the company to start the foundation work. The building will eventually include a welcome center, retail shop, Billy Bowlegs museum and leased office and meeting space. The moving company will receive $130,000 for moving the building and $19,800 to build the new foundation. Beedie said he estimates it will be another four months before renovations are complete and the visitor center opens.
