The crash of an ultralight aircraft crash in Escambia County, Alabama on Friday seriously injured the pilot. Deputy Chief Mike Lambert with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama said it happened around noon in the Canoe community outside of Atmore when the aircraft lost power, hit some trees and a powerline then crashed in a yard. The pilot, identified as Matthew Newton of Pensacola, was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital where he is listed in stable condition with a serious leg injury. Investigators with both the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
