The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Unit responded to a report of a barricaded gunman in a Destin Hotel yesterday. Deputies said Nicholas Sachse from Atlanta, was reported walking around the 2nd floor of the Home 2 Suite Hotel in Destin shouting for a family in room 218 to open the door. A man in room 218 looked out the peephole and saw Sachse carrying a handgun and called law enforcement. Sachse then retreated into room 217 for more than six-hours. Around 5:30 a.m. the Special Response Team forced their way into the room and arrested Sachse without incident. Deputies found ammunition, but no gun.
