FLORIDA ELECTION SECURITY GRANT

Yesterday, Florida Governor Rick Scott ordered state officials to speed up the acquisition of a 19-million dollar federal grant intended to protect the state’s election systems from cyber-attack. The money is part of a 380 million dollar national election protection program President Trump approved in March. Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner, the state’s chief elections official, said the money couldn’t be distributed earlier because it requires legislative approval. Scott ordered the necessary paperwork be filed to access the grant soon so the money can be available before the general election in November.
