GULF ISLANDS WEATHER PREPARATION

Gulf Islands National Seashore officials will begin shutdown procedures today as the area braces for severe weather over the Memorial Day weekend. Closure of the Fort Pickens, Santa Rosa and Perdido Key Areas is likely and could take place as early as tomorrow afternoon. If the Fort Pickens Campground is closed campers will be required to evacuate. Park status updates will be posted online, on the Gulf Islands Facebook page and on the park’s Twitter page.
