The Pensacola News Journal is reporting that the Sears store in University Town Plaza will close in July, but the Sears Outlet store in the Pensacola Square Shopping Center will remain open, as will the Sears Hometown store in Milton. The Sears Holding Corporation has closed around 400 Sears and K-Mart stores nationwide in the past year due to the stores’ declining sales, and 63 more will close by September. The Sears at University Town Plaza opened in 1974.
