Six inmates in the Franklin County Jail had to be rushed to Weems Memorial Hospital Monday morning after ingesting K2, a highly potent form of synthetic marijuana. Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Smith said five of the six men were treated and released. A sixth man was flown by helicopter to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and remains in the intensive care unit. 56-year-old Vanda McElveen, who was arrested by Carrabelle police Saturday at Franklin Correctional Institution for smuggling a controlled substance into the state prison, apparently had additional drugs in a body cavity, when she was booked into the County Jail.
