The National Hurricane Center said the region is getting lots of rain from a low-pressure area and associated trough that has moved into the Gulf close to northwest Florida. While definitely a rain-maker it is not expected to intensify into a named storm because it is so close to land. The other good news for our area is that the system is moving westward toward southeastern Louisiana. The National Hurricane Center said there is only a 10 percent chance of the low becoming a tropical cyclone.
