Two men have pleaded guilty in federal court in Pensacola to participating in a contracting and kickback scheme involving hundreds of thousands of dollars. A former contracting officer at Eglin Air Force Base, 53-year-old Jerry Vertefeuille of Niceville, and 37-year-old Christopher Carter of Fort Walton Beach, owner of TCC Services Unlimited, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft, wire fraud, and bribery of a public official. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Vertefeuille helped Carter win a paint booth maintenance contract in 2007, and the contract was renewed multiple times until 2014 and Vertefeuille received $81,000 in kickbacks for the $590,000 contracts. Sentencing is set for September 26th.
