Florida is halting payments to Maryland-based Conduent State and Local Solutions, the company contracted to upgrade the SunPass toll-collection system. The upgrades to the SunPass Centralized Customer Service System were supposed to have been completed June 11th. However, no completion date has been set to catch up on the backload of at least 100 million toll transactions that occurred after work on the upgrades began on June 5. Transportation Secretary Mike Dew called the delays completely unacceptable. The contract allows up to $5,000 a day in penalties to be imposed for each day that work fails to be completed past the deadline.
