A black bear was seen on the playground at Shalimar Elementary School on Saturday. Kim McSparren, principal of Shalimar Elementary, said she received a call from a teacher on Saturday afternoon saying that a black bear had been spotted on the side playground. The Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission dispatched a trapper, but the bear had apparently already left. an FWC official there was no food source on the school grounds and the bear may have been seeking a cool place during the hot day.
