PETS AND PUBLIX

The Publix grocery chain is enforcing policy on pets. A sign is now posted reading, “For food safety reasons, only service animals that are specifically trained to aid a person with disabilities are permitted within the store. Service animals are not permitted to sit or ride in shopping carts.” The company said their policy on service animals has not changed and the decision was made to post the sign as a reminder. Publix says service animals are covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, but not therapy animals or emotional support animals.
