Florida Medallion Scholars will benefit as the state expands financial aid for university and state college students. 46,000 medallion scholars will have their Bright Futures scholarships increased to cover 75-percent of tuition and fees, up from about 50-percent coverage. Tuition and fees average more than $210 per credit hour at the larger state universities. The expansion is part of the 519 million-dollar Bright Futures program approved this year by lawmakers. The Bright Futures expansion will largely benefit students attending Florida’s 12 state universities. But the scholarships also help students studying at Florida’s 28 state colleges.
