Pensacola City Administrator Eric Olson has resigned. Mayor Ashton Hayward’s office made the announcement Friday afternoon through a press release. Assistant City Administrator Keith Wilkins will replace Olson as city administrator through the end of Mayor Hayward’s term. After retiring from the Navy Olson was hired as the assistant city administrator, and became city administrator in 2015. Vernon Stewart, city spokesman, said Olson’s resignation wasn’t a surprise and had been planned for a while. Olson has been criticized because city curbside recycling was taken to the landfill for nine months without notifying the public.
