A new policy instituted by the Escambia County School District prohibits parents from walking their children to class after the third day of the new school year. Beginning on Thursday of this week, parents must contact the front office of their child’s school and obtain a visitor’s badge to be allowed inside of school buildings with their children. The policy is another new safety measure implemented by the district this year in a continued effort to secure its schools. That includes armed security at all schools, random metal detector sweeps and a new lockdown directive for parents.
