The night before the first day of school, a large white sign was placed on the roof of Baker School that read, “Warning: Exposure To Sexism, Racism, White Privilege, and Christianity.” Baker Principal Mike Martello discovered the sign early Monday and removed it before students arrived. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department is analyzing footage from surveillance video. Back in March, the Okaloosa County School District agreed to pay $500,000 to the parents of two black students – an eighth-grader and a 10th-grader – to settle a race discrimination lawsuit.
