A 35-year-old Pensacola woman who embezzled more than $20,000 from the Ferry Pass Elementary School Parent Teacher Association, has been sentenced to two years in prison. Sarina Young was elected PTA president for the 2013-2014 school year, served as treasurer in 2014-2015, then did both jobs from 2015 thru 2017, handling finances. In October 2016 an audit found that Young had used PTA funds and forged documents to open unauthorized bank accounts, used PTA money to buy personal items such as tires, wigs and nail services, and wrote more than $14,000 in fraudulent personal checks. She was sentenced by Judge Jennie Kinsey to 24 months in state prison.
