Eglin Air Force Base said one of its F-35 A Lightning II fighter jets experienced an in-flight emergency Wednesday afternoon, but was able to land safely. The base said the aircraft parked before its front nose gear collapsed Fire crews responded and the pilot suffered no injuries as a result of the incident. The F-35 is a next-generation stealth fighter jet, estimated to cost about 80 million dollars. The extent of damage to the F-35A Lightning II was not immediately available.
