SANTA ROSA COUNTY FATAL SHOOTING

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting near Allentown Saturday morning. Just before 7:30am deputies responded to a report of gunshots on Memory Lane, off Highway 89. 32-year-old Jeffrey Pernicka of Milton died and another man, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. The shooting may have been an act of self-defense and Department spokesman Sergeant Rich Aloy said evidence indicates the person who fired the weapon was being attacked at the time of shooting. The investigation is on-going.
