The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports lower concentrations of red tide have been reported in Bay, Walton and Gulf Counties since the last report on September 21st. Red tide has ended the scallop season in Gulf County and the St. Joseph Bay earlier than scheduled, with the season originally scheduled to run through September 30th. Hundreds of dead fish were seen floating in Choctawhatchee Bay near Bay Town Marina, earlier this week, but it wasn’t immediately clear if it was caused by red tide. Since September 5th, there have been 12 reported fish kills in Walton County with all but one reported in the Gulf.
