MEDICAL EXAMINER PAY DISPUTE

A dispute over pay for the First Judicial Circuit Medical Examiner could leave four Northwest Florida counties without a medical examiner. Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties have been disputing the salary of medical examiner Doctor Andrea Minyard, since May, when her office sued the four counties over a records request for her professional fees. Minyard’s contract expired yesterday, but the Pensacola News Journal is reporting her attorney said she will work through today to discuss the latest contract offer from the four counties.  Escambia and Okaloosa Counties have filed counterclaims against Minyard over her fees. Escambia County Commission Chairman Jeff Bergosh, told the News Journal he expects a temporary agreement to be reached.
