WEEKEND PEDESTRIAN FATAL

The Florida Highway Patrol said a pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday night while walking on Old Palafox near Archer Road in Gonzalez. Troopers say 31-year-old Ronald Smedley of Milton, was walking on the northbound travel lane of the road around 8:30 when he was hit by an S.U.V. driven by 43-year-old Charles Kimbel, of Cantonment. Smedley died at the scene. No word of any charges.
